I ordered the Caesar salad. It was delicious! I know this is a pretty generic entree but I would order this again and recommend it! The beers were alright, my date enjoyed IPA and said the double IPA was one of his favorites. I had a seasonal (summer) which was a wheat beer brewed with banana. I can't remember the name but it was tasty. The atmosphere was good, only a few TVs which were on mute and the staff was very friendly and informative.

Granite city...chain...grub...their own craft beer...smiling faces...nice clean place to take the family... They have a really large dining area, and a smallish bar area, with a sports bar feel...4 large screens over the bar, giving great angles at the final 6 holes replay of the masters...if you can't be there, why not enjoy watching it, with a "blarney brew". That's an oatmeal stout mixed with a German bock, starts nutty and finishes with a hint of coffee...a tasty, cooooool brew... Waitress started with a little attitude, she'd pulled a double and was worn out...but she warned up as the meal went on, my kids charmed her...anyway, two salads and two sandwiches, and we were on our way...nothing too crazy meal wise, but we alway have good food at this location...I guess that's true with any chain...some good, some bad...this one tends to be on the good side...

Mediocre really. Not bad. Not great. Tried the walleye there once and it was horrifyingly bad. Few things will scar a person worse than biting into a piece of bad fish. The brunch buffet on the weekends is pretty solid though probably slightly overpriced. And the service during that brunch is hit or miss. Sometimes they'll come around regularly to make sure your drink is topped off. Other times you're lucky if you see them at all.

This place is great. Good food, good service. Very kid friendly but I wouldn't hesitate to go without the kids as well. I really like the "two pull" draft beer. Definitely a place we go back to again and again.

Had lunch at Granite City with the staff. Would liked to have had the beer sampler....I guess I'll have to come back one of these days after work! The service was pretty good although the server seemed rushed even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. He did bring a refill before I completely finished my drink so that's a big plus. I ordered the Fish Tacos which were pretty good as well. I've had better, I've had worse. They were a generous size and filled me up so I left happy!

All four of us were happy with our food and service. It was a bonus that the restroom has actual faucets with adjustable hot water! If I'm in the area again I'll be back.

Meh. Nothing remarkable. Some food is good. Some has even been pretty good. When we get the bill tho, and realize we are paying for sysco's best, feel cheated; always left the hubby and I feeling disappointed. Like we could have made something equally delicious without a bunch of processed chemicals in it at home. Or just gone to get sandwiches. The service has always come off rather flat, completely canned. Another chain restaurant. Fill your belly. Check.

Great Place for Dinner (1st Time Here June 2012) or Lunch (Today 2 Years Later), Had There Awesome Steak Salad Today & The Sirloin Was Seasoned & Cooked to Perfection & Balsamic Vinagrette was Over the Top Delicious. Couldn't do the Craft Beers Sampler but Saw a Tray being served & add 1 more thing to what makes this a Great Place Day or Night

Note to self. Don't go to brunch when it's a holiday. LOL Totes forgot that it was Father's Day. Super busy and the line went all the way outside. Anyways, came for their brunch buffet. It was a premium price of $20 since it was a holiday. (Kinda wish that we went to Bristol instead, because I don't think it should've been worth this much...just saying) There were a lot of choices at the buffet, but nothing really stood out for me. DISAPPOINTED with the Eggs Benedict station. At first I wasn't surprised that there was about a 20min wait with each order, but to have the yolk cooked? Unacceptable. I saw the cook's station and he had like 8 eggs in the pot for many minutes. If it took that long for him to do orders, I would expect each to be poached pretty well. Aside for that, the hollandaise sauce was pretty good. The highlight of my meal there was the DESSERT! It reminded me of Seasons 52's desserts. Each dessert are served in shot glasses. I got the strawberry shortcake and chocolate toffee. Both heavenly in their own ways. Toffee took the gold for me for having surprise caramel and nuts at the bottom along the crust. So Delicious hehe Maybe my experience might have been tampered by the holiday rush, so I will try to give them a second chance next time when it's not a holiday. I've been to Granite City for dinner at the Legends. That experience was night and day compared to this one. It was a lovely dinner :) Don't remember what I ate, but I had a good time haha Happy Eating! (Man it feels good to write reviews again, I was in a bit of a hiatus!)

Bottom Line Up Front: Go to Bristol or Harvey's for brunch instead. Lacks selection. Clueless station workers. Poor service. This review is for their Sunday Brunch. I've been here once for dinner and it was mediocre. Went here for Sunday Brunch on Father's Day. We knew it was going to be crowded but they should have too! The selection was disappointing. The eggs benedict line was terrible. The person working the station had no idea how to properly poach an egg. I waited for my eggs benedict for about 30 mins before asking him where it was, he replied that he couldn't find our table even though I gave him clear instructions of where our table was. Another person that was with me went up there and got their eggs benedict on the spot. I was irate. Save yourself the disappointment and go to Bristol, for a few extra dollars, the selection is far superior.

Great beer. Quick service. Fair prices. Delicious burgers. We will definitely be back with friends

Positives: great beer, good food (by chain standards), nice setting and environment, and plenty of fun places nearby, since it's in Zona Rosa. But the service is pretty bad. The prices are a little too high, and they do the corporate thing of having TVs (sports) everywhere but with no sound on, and a lot of them are obstructed by hanging lights and decor. Their Asian glazed ribs are really freakin good though!

The food was great. My friend had the beer sampler and that was great as well. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for good food and beer.

Sometimes good, sometimes just okay, but never spectacular. This review is for my last visit though...which was really good this time...but only because we met long time friends after it had been too long. App came out ok. Just ok. Department of Redundancy Department Alert!! Wine was served in a tiny little glass jar which was then poured into my glass at the table. Wait, what. Okay, totally unnecessary, just bring it in the glass and avoid that weird step altogether. Anyway at least it was good. I ordered another during dinner. My steak salad looked good on the menu. Arrived and looked rather huge but good. After I started eating it, I immediately realized a sliced up chicken breast was under all my steak?! Hmmm. So I imagine something like the cook realized half way through that the order was for a steak salad and not grilled chicken, so he just threw on both thinking the guest would appreciate the free side of chicken. I guess things could be worse. I ate it anyway. Not sure why, but then I did have that second glass of wine. My stomach was turning upside down by the end of dinner and the chicken (or the too much dressing on the salad) was planning to punish me. Quick exit, quick goodbyes...probably for a very long time!

Beer....so so....food...Better than McDonald's. Dude fest. Between the ages of 21-35 looking for an after work $7.50 pitcher of beer on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is the place to get your bro on. because we were first time customers we got free cookies to go. Am I 25 years old or 5? I don't know but the cookie was good.

For a chain- I was impressed. The Shandy is wonderful! The waffle fries with the sour cream/ranch did is amazing! It is well worth the 99 cent extra!

  • Agustin R.

Stay away from the spinach dip what an oily mess that was...the rest of the food (chicken alfredo and steak salad) was below average for what you would expect for the price...

Went to brunch on Sunday, hadn't been in awhile. The service was ok. Wasn't a big crowd so seating was fast. Entrees were good. Would be nice to have omelette bar there. The Pasta was excellent and the bacon. The meat was a little salty. The bottomless mimosas were a treat. Can't go wrong with that

    (4)
  • Rob R.

Here on Sunday for Brunch. It is a great atmosphere. The food is okay but doesn't match their usual fare. Also they obviously have some rules about how much prime rib you get per visit. Generally one small slice making you keep going back. Not bad value at $14.99 pp.

Last night my boyfriend and I were going out to celebrate a new promotion he hot at work. We decided to go to Granite City because it was close to the movies and we had a movie night planned. We got there and we were seated. Our waitress comes over to the table and grabs our drink orderes. It felt like she was rushing us the entire time. It took over 15 minutes for our drinks to hit the table. After that pur waitress said if we didn't mind she was going to go get someone else's order because she had been triple sat. We waited for her to come back and we placed our order. I ordered the Ribeye. When our food finally came my steak was way to salty and undercooked. My baked potatoe was still raw. The only thing good about that food was the green beans. Oh and the bloody mary tasted like watered-down tomatoe juice. I eneded up spending over 90 dollars to eat there and the food was jusr horrible. The service wasn't much better. I doubt I will ever go back.

Samplers were good. IPA 1000 is one of the best beers they had. Try mixer beer which is good too. Flat bread pizza with bacon was made delicious.

I loved the location and decor of this place. Definitely a place I would take my daughter in the afternoon if we needed to grab a bite to eat. I came here right after my pin-up shoot and really wanted my drink on. (Even though the pin-up dress wasn't allowing much wiggle room.) I ordered the Brother's Benedict Bock. I love German Bock beers (not just because it's my heritage either) it's super smooth and yet full of flavor which at most other places it's a little sub par. I've heard the IPA is pretty amazing, but I'm not an IPA type girl. A little too strong for me. The prosciutto olive was my favorite! It's just my style. I love prosciutto. I love olives. You add garlic and basil? Sheesh. Call it a day! I tried my other half's smokehouse bacon, sliced tomatoes, mesquite smoked turkey, garlic aioli and Monterey Jack Cheese on wheat. The garlic aioli is to die for. Agh epic!

For $14.95 I was so excited to enjoy a family brunch this past Sunday in KC. However, I was disappointed. The food was not refilled quickly, there was no omelet station- only an eggs Benedict station, the prime rib was icky looking (I did not even sample it), cold quiche, flavorless salad... need I say more? I feel like I am easy to please but the food was not good. The only bright side was the service- we sat in the bar area and our server was friendly and kind and fast. I have been here before and had much better food experiences. It was just embarrassing to take my in-laws to a place and have it be such poor quality.

I stopped in here for dinner on one of the evenings I was in Kansas City for a conference. When you walk in, you'll find that this has more of an upscale brewery/pub feel. I was greeted by warm and friendly staff upon my arrival, and found that there wasn't too long of a wait for a table for 3. (Which is pretty awesome on a Friday night.) Though our server had several other tables in our section to attend to, she was very attentive throughout our dinner service. I never once had to ask for a refill on beverages, as she brought a refill to my table before I was done with my current drink. The menu options were vast, and it was hard selecting what I wanted to eat. Be mindful when searching the menu, that there is an icon next to several entrees denoting "Chef Suggestions". These are extremely accurate when it comes to highlighting deliciousness. This night, I went with the "French Onion Soup" as a starter, and the "Adult Mac & Cheese" as the entree. The soup pretty good, slightly too salty, but still very good. The Mac & Cheese came highly recommended, and absolutely did not disappoint. The flavor and seasoning was pretty good, and the chicken was very deliciously marinated. My only disappointment I had this evening was that I didn't save room for dessert. There were several dessert options that looked wonderful, but alas, I was stuffed from the other amazing eats I had while there. Something you may want check out: "The Craft Cuisine" menu. This menu is hand selected by the "Brewmaster" and the chef on staff. Several of these menu options are created using some of the beer brewed onsite. Some of the options include: "Bock 'N Cheese Fondue" (created with their "Bennie" Bock beer), "Pale Ale Pulled Pork Sandwich" (created with their "Duke" pale ale), "IPA Cobb Salad" (also using their "Duke" pale ale, and flank steak), "Stout Roasted Chicken" (using their "Broad Axe" stout), and "Stout & Chocolate Apple Fritter" (also using their "Broad Axe" stout). You can also order their craft beer sampler, if you want to sample what they have to offer. Something else that I enjoyed, was that even though this has more of restaurant feel, this also plays like a sports bar. They have plenty of TVs throughout the dining area, so you can get the best of both worlds! This is a great place to come to if you're looking for just drinks with friends, or a romantic dinner.

Went here for lunch to exchange gifts with 2 of my friends and my sister. It's like any other franchise restaurant I've been to but a bit pricier and quality food, they're known for their beer and alcohol but we opted out of that for the time being. They have good food with lots of variety to choose from and the service is better than your average Apple Bees. Although our particular server....nice guy but tried too hard to hit on my friend. At the end of our lunch he tried to sneak his way in by giving her his number in a very semi-smooth way, props buddy but we just wanted to have a girls luncheon without you working your skills. Anyways, service was good (despite my friend trying to get hit on), he was very knowledgeable with the menu and gave us his honest opinions of it. Came out with our water and food in a timely fashion and he checked up on us often. We had the spinach and artichoke dip with ciabatta bread. It was delicious but I didn't like that you could see the grease pooling at the bottom (gross). I ordered the Cajun Pasta, very good and very flavorful! It had a good kick to it, but not enough to burn your taste buds but just enough enjoy it. Along with that it had a generous serving of decent size shrimps and italian sausages. I really enjoyed the added green bell peppers (one of my favorite vegetables). The dish could only be ordered in dinner portions, so it was big! It could have fed my party of 4, Seriously, I ate maybe half of it and my bowl still looked like it was full. The rest of my party had their lunch special sandwiches. It came with a soup or salad along with a side dish with varying choices for such a great price ~$10, it was a lot of food! Money well spent. Granite City is a great place for lunch or dinner get together with friends and family!

We stopped by Granite City yesterday for a late lunch - unfortunately the Sunday buffet did not look to appetizing so we ended up ordering off the menu. We tried the hot wings to start, although overpriced and the fact that the celery was rotten - the wings were excellent. We also tried the Bison Burger and Asian chicken salad - the bison burger with fries were served piping hot and seasoned perfectly - awesome! The Asian chicken salad was slightly over-dressed but it was very tasty. The service wasn't the best (unfortunately seems to be the norm in Kansas City) but the food more than made up for it.

Great service & great food! At the legend's location today & love the food but feel a little ripped off when it came to the portion sizes! Especially the kid's menu items. My daughter decided to share some of my food because her meal was so small.

The reason this review gets as high as a three... is the beer. I had both the IPA and the stout. Both were well above average. We both had flatbread pizzas which were tasty. The prosciutto & olive would be worth having again. The garlic sauce was excellent. The "Idaho nachos" were a mess. Nothing fresh or tasty about those. A big massive pile of waffle fries with square slices of monterey jack (or something) cheese overlaid and microwaved. Yes, seriously. Not a cheese sauce... or even shredded cheese. Just big, 4-in square blankets of cheese slices from the grocery store. As those puppies cooled down... there was almost no getting a fry out from under there without lifting the entire glued-down mess as once. The thing you must know is that the service on Saturday the 15th of December was lackadaisical at best. Waited 10 minutes after being seated to even get a drink order put in, then waited 20 minutes for it to arrive at the table. We were told "sorry about the wait- we have a new bartender." It is a BREW PUB. You hire someone to bartend at a brew pub, and they can't pull on a tap and get a beer to a table? Weak.

Amazing 'Adult' Mac and Cheese!! Good service too. The only thing that was HORRIBLE were the bathrooms... They didn't lock and they smelled terrible.

OK, I will award 2 stars here only for the decor and the fact the we were seated straight away by a pleasant young man who smiled and made us feel quite welcome. THAT is where the pleasant noshing experience at Ye Ole Granite City came to a grinding halt. I have been to this establishment twice before and found it passable, and I really do not like to be unkind however I must leave my unfavorable review of our experience here today because it is going from bad to worse... First of all, timing is everything and the owner of this eatery needs to have a one on one with his serving staff immediately. There is NO sense of urgency here at all. None. Not to mention that out server was holding back a yawn every time she came by the table. Although there is a fine line between annoyance and neglect, this felt like out and out abandonment at times. I ordered walleye and got tilapia, the Chess Player chose a burger and was asked what temperature he wanted it served. Not "how cooked" but what temp...hmm... His burger was cold, the fries were cold and that about sums up the service as well. In retrospect, I suppose the servers question regarding the burger was rhetorical. And I suppose if the place had been busy and bustling we might even have been a bit more understanding but our server had 2 other tables-2!!! Putting poor table service together with badly motivated staff leaves you with a bad experience, even if you begin with good products and a great establishment. Bottom line: Cold food, incorrect food, long wait to the point of neck craning to see where server has adjourned leaves a bad taste in your mouth that makes a return visit out of the question. I do hope that owners read these blogs because I will not limit my dissatisfaction to Yelp. I will tell pretty much anyone who asks, "Don't bother." What a shame because this place has so much potential!

I stopped in here for dinner with my son and 2 yr old granddaughter after dropping off my rental car at the airport nearby. I've driven past many times but never stopped in, my son said he'd heard good things, so we decided to give it a try. First of all, the decor is pretty cool, and they have a really interesting fountain outside....check it out! We were greeted quickly and taken to a table with no wait, so we were off to a good start. Our server came by pretty quickly, took our drink orders, and we were still feeling good. But the longer it took for him to come back with our drinks, the less love we were feeling. Finally, he made it back with my son's Coke and my IPA (which was actually very good), but he forgot my granddaughter's apple juice. Luckily, I'd brought her juice cup in with me, so crisis was averted. We ordered the Thai glazed jumbo shrimp as an appetizer, and since we'd had so long to check out the menu, decided to go ahead and place our dinner order as well. My son ordered the pecan crusted trout and I went for the maple bacon flatbread pizza (which our server said was his favorite), and of course chicken fingers for the little one. We again waited for what seemed like forever, still with no drink for my granddaughter, and no appetizer, when finally the manager came by to see how things were going. He immediately went to get my granddaughter's drink, but by the time he came back our food was being brought out......well, my son's trout and my flatbread came out. But we still didn't have our appetizer or Lily's chicken fingers.....I guess they really didn't intend for her to have dinner at all! Once again, the manager asked if everything was OK, and I had to say that no, it wasn't......he apologized, went in to get the rest of our food, and then walked away. We never saw that server again, so I don't know what happened to him, but we finished with someone else. As for the food......although the sauce was flavorful, the shrimp itself was very tough and hard to chew. My son said his trout was OK, but not great. But the maple bacon flatbread was fantastic! In this case, the server was right......he may not know customer service, but he DOES know bacon! Overall, I wasn't impressed. And to top it off, even after all the issues we had, the manager offered no discount, nothing at all for our troubles. I don't expect the whole meal to be comped, but something should have been done, considering that we didn't get our appetizer until AFTER the rest of our food came out, not to mention the multiple issues with the kids' meal. So despite its nice appearance and impressive beer list, I doubt I'll ever go back.

I took 14 of my employees here for dinner. The service was horrible. A waiter was walking by and dropped a big steak knife on one of my employees. We ordered nachos and requested that we have no onions because we have an employee that is highly allergic to them. She ordered a dish that did not even have onions in it and ended up biting into... You guessed it an onion. All in all the food was good. I was forced to pay18% gratuity to have a knife dropped one my employees and have the other served onions. Would not go back

So I've been here quite a bit lately and always have a good time (with the only exception being the two times I've gotten the waitress named Mer$&*^% who is the slowest server on earth) The mug club is 1/2 priced ($10) routinely and you can make this back super quick! Between free "super size" on beer, 10% off bill, and free food at tapping parties - you're losing money if you DON'T get one Food is great, especially their bar menu (flatbread pizza!), HUGE & tasty salads - especially the salmon ceaser and chopped salad, and the skillet cookie is great (and enough for 4 people... Or 1) Bartenders go out of their way to get to know you and take pride in their job. Multiple TVs are on during the game with 3 different tuners/games. They also have specially priced stadium foods. The sit-down dining is great to, and you can't beat the Sat/Sunday brunch - what a HUGE selection of really good food... I personally like the prime rib and "specialty" to-order eggs benedict bar. Overall, I like coming here and will continue... see you there

Why do they have to play music so loud you can barely hear the person sitting next to you!? I'm aware this place has a bar in it but the majority of the space is set up for dining which is almost impossible to do given the noise level. I ordered their Napa Valley burger which was cooked pretty well and tasted great though I could have done with less bread. The avocado was pretty tasty with that and I love the way they did their fries. The service was great, we never felt like we were being ignored though you could tell our server was very tired. The entire experience would have received higher stars if it wasn't for the volume of the music. It really did mar the entire evening and I had such a headache by the end I couldn't wait to leave.

We have come to this location and the one at the Legand's and both times were disappointing. I will say that this is a good place to go with kids, because its that loud type of ambiance and no one really seems to care. Both times I've been here I have gotten sick afterwords. ....Like really sick. I dont know if its from cleanliness or what, but I am a pretty "safe orderer" and got the grilled chicken the first time and the waffle fry nachos the second time. Both experiences left me running to the bathroom within 30 min. of leaving the joint. With 2 strikes, I wont be making a 3rd as to avoid an unpleasant outcome. Gross.

It was very tasty, and I would recommend it. I LOVE the decor. It's homey and modern. The stone veneer columns are cool. I ordered the "simply grilled salmon." It was very good. The dish didn't come with tartar sauce as most fishy dishes would, and it didn't need it. It had a true salmon flavor, and it was cooked perfectly. Flaky, soft, moist. I wasn't particularly interested in the side dishes that came with the entree, so I opted for roasted red potatoes and broccoli. Broccoli was nice; fresh-tasting and had parmesean cheese sprinkled on top. The roasted red potatoes -- whoa. Probably the best roasted red potatoes I've ever had! Just perfect. My mother ordered a pasta dish that came with diced tomatoes on top. She specifically said, "... and no tomatoes" to our waiter, to which he repeated, "no tomatoes." I don't know what happened, but the person who brought out the dishes gave her the pasta with tomatoes. She told that man that she asked for no tomatoes, to which he promptly took the plate back, and we then received two visits from our server and from the manager to apologize. They did not charge us for the mistake with the pasta, and they apologized profusely. Very good customer service, in my opinion. Good food, good service, and good response to a staff mistake. I was happy with the visit. PS -- I'd call attire "dressy casual" to go with the atmosphere, although I saw other customers in sweatpants. :-/

Now as anyone who has read a review of mine knows, I tend to shun chains and would not give a chain anything over 3 stars... Until now. Myself and two friends went to Granite City for a dinner. it is the typical brew pub sort of set up. Glassed in room where the brew tanks are, glassed in kitchen that allows you to see all the prep and cooking. Nothing major here. Then we were seated and our server came over, that's where the magic began. Now I hate the fact I am so awful with names, but our server was a very sociable and knowledgeable server. She was especially knowledgable about the bar offerings and one of our group had a Flying Monkey. I tasted and it was an excellent drink. I think it is a signature staple of the restaurant. My other friend and I wanted beer. Our server let us know she was not as up on the beer, but said she would send someone more knowledgeable over to help with the beer choice. She didn't just send anyone over, she sent the Brewmaster to our table. He went into extensive detail on the signature house brews and which ones he favored. What really impressed me, as I am a former Wine Steward, was that he offered accurate food pairings for the beer and they were spot on (Brother Benedict's Bock was excellent with our dinner choices). Now I have been to many a brew pub and talked to many Brewmasters, but never did they offer food pairings beyond pizza or wings. As for dinner it was outstanding. One of my friends had Charlotte's Pasta which was shrimp, prosciutto, and chicken over linguine with a marinara sauce that was wonderful. My other friend had the London Broil with Bourbon sauce. I didn't sample it, but my friend is a gourmand and he loved it. I had the Grilled Boneless BBQ Pork Chops. Here is where my only complaint came in. The chops were underdone they were actually medium rare to rare which to me is unsafe in most restaurants. What saved it was they were so good, I didn't notice until I was nearly finished with them. So definitely have them, but make sure you check the meat before digging in. Back to our server. I related to her that the pork chops were good, but would have been excellent had they been medium well as opposed to medium rare. I wasn't seeking any credit for it as i did eat them anyway, but my server not only comped my meal, but one of our pitchers of beer. Now that is outstanding customer service (I have only gotten Customer Service like that at PF Changs in Bellevue, WA.). Definitely will be going back... A lot!

Mug club is a great choice as you get so many discounts with the card, including larger beers for cheaper. Food is usually spot on, get the walleye dinner!

You can't go wrong at Granite City. The beers are great - order something darker though because there are a few that are really light and lacking the flavor I like. Every dish on the menu is great: Cheddar burger, Nachos, Salads. Steaks. The one chain that I really enjoy.

I have only given one place out of many 5 stars. I would give this place 4.5 if possible though. The flatbread special; shrimp, artichoke dip on flatbread was pretty awesome. The cajun pasta was also great. Good beers and a not too oppressively loud atmosphere. I would come here again if im ever in the Kansas City area again. Major points for not being owned by Buttweiser!!

I'm a little bit on the fence about Granite City. I think that 2 stars is probably harsh, but I don't really know that it's deserving of a 3rd star, either. However, my husband is more of a fan than I am, so I'm going with his 3 star recommendation for this review. Basically, the menu here is HUGE, but I've had some things on it that were good, and other things that sounded great but were terrible. So I've learned to pretty much stick with one of a couple of different options, and then I don't have to worry about only eating a few bites of something that is largely inedible. This is a good thing if I'm in the mood for a specific item, such as the other day when I wanted their crab and shrimp quesadilla, but it does limit how often I'm willing to eat here. The waffle fries are another decent option on the menu, as are some of the flatbread pizzas. My husband had a southwest chicken wrap off the lunch menu, and he said it was alright, but nothing totally special. Service is usually good, although our server on our most recent visit really irritated me by not only taking my husband's plate while I was still eating (WHY do people do this?! It's a huge pet peeve of mine.), but then asking if we wanted dessert, and bringing the check - while I was still eating. I know that my husband eats quicker than I do, but really. All of a sudden I felt very rushed and almost anxious, like I needed to finish right away and get out. I'm sure she thought she was being efficient or something, but it was just plain rude. Granite City is usually pretty busy, so it's also generally pretty loud. It seems to be frequented by families with small children, so if you're expecting more of a pub-type atmosphere, you're not really going to get that. (I don't know if it's different in the bar area - quite possibly.) All in all, I'll be back the next time I want the quesadilla or some good waffle fries, but there are many more places I'd rather visit.

Great place to catch lunch/dinner before or after a flight from MCI. Split the Rosemary Steak Salad and the Tortellini with Creamy Sundried Tomato (w/ grilled chicken). Both were very good, although maybe the salad had a bit too much dressing drenched on. The steak was cooked well though and the pasta was so flavorful. Ended with the apple caramel pastry dessert, which was incredible. Try it, seriously.

Killer beers! The waiter had a few great suggestions and they were all fantastic. The hamburger I got different but in a tasty way. Can't wait to go back to KC and try some more of their beer.

The food was good, the beer was good, and the service was average. I had a ribeye steak that was cooked perfectly and was well-seasoned, although they overdid it on the garlic. I had mashed potatoes on the side, which were even more heavily seasoned with garlic, and it was a bit too much. I tried the Bock and Lager beers; the Bock was good, albeit a tad more bitter than a typical, commercially brewed bock, and the lager was good, although it did have a hint of sweetness to it which I didn't care for.

My colleagues and I visited Granite City last night at the recommendation of the Hampton Inn front desk clerk. We ate in the bar, as we wanted to catch the beginning of Stanley Cup finals, game 7. We entered in search of a cold brew, but when our waiter told us that Wednesday is 1/2-price-bottles-of-wine night we quickly altered our focus. At half price we could share a bottle of Mirassou Pinot Noir for $12. So we shared two. Having eaten a late lunch I was interested in something light. I opted for the the linguini pomodoro, which was loaded with tomatoes, garlic and basil. The pasta was cooked very well and the pomodoro sauce was packed with flavor. Our waiter heartily recommended the meatloaf, which got rave reviews from one coworker. The other ordered the rosemary & olive oil filet. The steak was a bit over-cooked and he reported no evidence of rosemary. But for $17.99 not a bad value. All-in-all it was just fine. I would return. Preferably on a Wednesday.

Great place to stop in for a nice casual lunch. We usually sit at the bar, and have always had great service. We like to start off with the spinach dip, they offer two kinds of bread to be served with it, and it is to die for. I've tried multiple sandwiches and burgers, and all are great. The home brewed beer they have is also very tasty!

$6 pitchers of fairly decent tasting IPA...score. Well, the IPA was OK...but for $6 for a pitcher, it did taste a lot better. Idaho Nachos - deliciously unhealthy, but delicious nonetheless. Service was quick and friendly at the bar, and prices, though slightly expensive, did not feel like a rip-off. FYI I think the pitchers are only $6 on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

My friend and I decided to get lunch with our daughters at Granite City after our pedicures. We arrived around 1:45pm and it wasn't super busy so it was perfect. We got seated quickly and our order was taken. Almost an hour later, we got our food! The waitress said that the kitchen was slow because the kitchen managers were all on vacation. I didn't care, I was just hungry and wanted my food. My poor toddler was super hungry so she gobbled her corn dogs which should have came out a lot faster! We got apologies from both the waitress and manager but nothing in the sort of compensation. I was hoping for a free dessert or a soda...anything. Anyhow, we finished our meals and waited to pay. After we paid, I asked her about military rates and she said yes as long as we have id. My friend and I gave her our ids and she went to make the adjustments. It took a little while but when she came back, she did not give me back my credit card so I asked and she had to search for it. She finally found it, it had dropped out of her apron. Needless to say, I will not be returning and would not recommend this location but hopefully the other ones are better.

Each year we search for a decent place to host a work holiday party and this year was no different. We decided to go with GC Grill because it is reasonably priced and offered a semi private room. The food was decent, but the semi private room was anything but. We were in the middle of the restaurant and one side of the table (10 people) had their backs to a wall. It was extremely difficult to get out of our seats for any reason. Once we did, the floor was super slick and a few of us almost fell. Now for the decent part of the review... We had flat bread and pretzels for appetizers. The pretzels were very good. The flat bread was too, but I could not stop eating the pretzels. We had salmon and meat loaf as entree choices. I had the salmon and it was decent. Not great, but edible. My boss raved about the meat loaf, so I'll take his word for it. For dessert, warm chocolate cookies. And they were just that, warm and yummy. The entrance to this building appears to be on one side of the building but is in fact on the opposite side of the building. It was an odd chain of events to find the front door, but we did! If you are on a budget, this is a place to consider. If you can afford to reserve the private room, that would be the way to go.

Granite City Food and Brewery in Zona Rosa was quite an experience. I went here with a co-worker during our trip to Kansas City. The first time we went was about 10:40 pm on a Tuesday night. We were shown a table and given menus by the hostess. The server came over and said the kitchen is not serving dinner at this time but beer samplers are available. We were not pleased with this since we were hungry and it was our second night in KC. He did recommend another place O'Dowds Irish Pub that was open late every night so we left and headed over there. See my review coming soon. Before we left KC we headed back to Granite City Brewery for one last try and this time it was great. We got there way before kitchen closing time and we enjoyed our food. I got the Mediterranean Chicken and my co-worker got the Grilled Chicken Burrito and the beer sampler. Both dishes were good. We did not care much for the TV's (too high) or the Mug Club(we were from out of town) but overall it was a nice casual dining experience. The second visit bumped this review up from a 1 to a 4. We both think we would come back here again if we ever got back to Kansas City.

Great beer, pleasantly bustling atmosphere and some pretty darn good service. The guy who waited on me was Zachary, and he was attentive without being intrusive, just a perfect server. The food was quite good. I had the "healthy" version of the grilled salmon, more healthful than the other salmon choice which comes with hollandaise, and as the evening progressed I also had two grilled shrimp skewers and a cup of black bean chili. The salmon and shrimp were buttery and crispy at the edges with a moist tenderness (perhaps deep-fried rather than truly grilled?) and the chili had a bit of spice and complexity with its pico de gallo topping adding texture. Although one catch: the $14 piece of salmon was the tiniest little thing I've ever seen, and was smaller than your typical lunch portion. I am a skinny guy, and I don't want large portions because I want to stay skinny. But when I can eat my dinner portion of salmon in four bites, I can't help but think I've been ripped off, to some extent. Icing on the cake, the skewers of "jumbo" shrimp turned out to be not so jumbo. They were pretty small compared to shrimp I've had elsewhere. So what could have been four stars, easily, can be no more than two. I know salmon is a relatively pricey fish. But knowing all the costs of running a restaurant, the food ingredients are a relatively minor part of the overhead. I think getting chintzy on the portions is a poor way to save money.

Used to enjoy going here over my lunch hour despite the constant beer pimping. Do i want a beer? Yea! Do i want to get fired for boozing it up on a work day? No! I realize the servers are trained to upsell products but time and time again it's annoying. This last visit our soup came out the same time as our entree despite our server asking when we preferred the course. When we reminded him of our preference he didn't have a response. Must not be trained to handle non beer related issues? Quality of food had gone down. Price has gone up. No clue about the beer.

The beer here was decent but by no stretch of the imagination what I am used to in Colorado. The lighter beers like the wheat ales were so light that they almost tasted like water. But at least I got a buzz on the rest! The nitro infused beer was probably the one of the better ones that I had on the sampler tray. We did have an appetizer of waffle fries which all in all were not bad. A bit of a drive from the downtown area.

I thought this place was nice. Good atmosphere and decent menu with a good selection for everyone. There was gluten free and low cal options, their beer was paired with each meal on the menu which was helpful. The prices are very reasonable I had a 10 oz Filet Minion with mashed potatoes and veggie for 18. I was pleased with how the steak was cooked and the sides were average. The BF ordered a seafood dish with succatash SP? It was interesting and I would not order it but it is an example of th diverse menu. If you are out shopping and find yourself needing a beer and snack, this place will not dissapoint you.

We dropped in here for an early dinner one day, were rapidly seated and started to peruse the large menu. The bar is super cool, very upscale for the neighborhood and for the money. Definitely a good place to bring out of town guests who like to drink beers. The food was pretty tasty, we both had the bleu burgers which were nice and salty and buttery. The beef patty was incredibly thin, I asked for mine to be cooked medium but with such a small amount of meat there was no way it was going to be anything other than well done. Keep in mind this was the 'lunch' menu we ordered from so maybe the 'dinner' version would be bigger. Service was solid and prompt, no issues. I'd eat there again for sure.

Ah, Midwest. Huge portions and thick sauces. However, another good meal enroute from the airport. Did some chicken and spinach combination and didn't need to eat again for two days. Disclaimer: my nephew cooks here. Try it.

I enjoyed the food here. It's a brewery but also a nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere. It could be ideal for first dates with the Legends theatre nearby. The waitress was attentive and prompt with refills. We ordered a peppercorn burger, which was cooked perfectly; a flatbread pizza, the portion size was skimpy but it was good; and my favorite part was probably the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer. Overall it's a charming restaurant with a nice modern feel and not too expensive. I'd go back.

Granite City is second only to Gordon Biersch in my list of best franchise microbrewery restaurants. While this list may contain only two entries, it doesn't make Granite City any less impressive. They have an enjoyable selection of microbrews, although their summer beers aren't quite as memorable as Biersch's. Their menu offers an eclectic assortment of choices, so you don't have to worry about "that one guy" in your group incessantly complaining everything on the menu has too many atoms in it. Their flatbread pizzas make an excellent appetizer, and although they are decently sized, it is possible to eat about 17 of them in one sitting. I usually order the grilled garlic butter sirloin, because there's not a single word there I don't love. Beautiful interior, comfortable seating, and attentive service; these aren't random phrases I'm writing for no discernible reason, they're all descriptions of the Granite City Brewery.

This is a slightly more upscale bar and grill. It's nice inside and service was quick. I had the Asian Glazed Shrimp appetizer which was very good. I ordered the Beer Biscuits with Chicken and Vegetable Velouté for my main course. It was ok, not great. It came out very dry, so I needed to order extra sauce. After that, it was ok - still not great. For dessert, I had the Spicy Pumpkin Pie - it tasted store bought to me. The bright spot was that the waiter was very helpful and courteous. Great service!!

I haven't eaten at this particular GC but it is my stop for fresh beer. My favorite is the Brother Benedict's Bock. It is hard to find a bock beer in KC other than Shiner (which is very good too) but this brew is worth the drive to Zona Rosa. I have one of their party balls which can last 3 weeks in my fridge but I prefer to have them fill my growler which will fill 5 tall glasses. The bartenders are all capable of discussing the different beers with you and they always seem to be very upbeat during my visits. The icing on the cake is when I leave there are pretty girls opening the doors for me. If you've never tried fresh homemade beer, this is a good place to start.

I have only been here for Sunday brunch. It usually consists of my old college buddies (ROCK CHALK!) dragging me out after a long long LONG night of drinking heavily. By the time I get here, I am either starving or ill. That being said, it is probably one of the largest and nicer breakfast buffets I have been to, outside of Las Vegas. Everything is tasty except for the super fatty prime rib. I say you go ahead skip it, even though you won't. No one ever skips the prime rib. Even vegetarians sit there and stare at the prime rib, lamenting their life choices. As a side note, regarding the prime rib, the carving guy usually looks at me in disgust when I ask for my slice to still be mooing when it touches my plate. That tip was for free, you're welcome. Everything else is great, I assure you. The mimosas keep coming and that hair of the dog can be in full effect. I have to admit, though... I REALLY hate it when my buddies go nuts with the eggs benedicts. At least once a month, they will send me pictures of their brunch from there. Waffles benedict, prime rib benedict, it doesn't matter... those grossos are putting goddamn hollandaise on everything. Seriously, I think they sent me a cantaloupe benedict picture once. I should probably stop responding with angry text messages. Another great reason to go here is its proximity to the airport. You can go before your flight and head right on over with a tummy full of delicious brunch and mimosas. Otherwise as for the beer and not brunch-food? I haven't a clue.

I went here for lunch yesterday, but for the life of me I can't really remember much about the place. It looked exactly like the other Granite City Brewery I've been to in Olathe, and every other corporatesque type chain/brewery in Kansas City. Blah. The service was neither horrible nor excellent, but they did keep my iced tea full so there was...that. I ordered the cheese ravioli and was pleased that it actually came in a nice portion. Not so much that you have to take home 3/4 of your plate. My lunch date got some sort of chicken sandwich and seemed to like it. Honestly, the menu looks about the same as every other restaurant of its type in this city. You know, the kind where you barely even have to look at it and you know everything that's on it already. So, it makes a safe option when you know you don't want to experiment with anything new. A decent, slightly unmemorable meal in a manufactured, bland restaurant. For this type of fare, I'd rather go to a Houlihan's, but the one across the street was too busy for our short lunch meeting. But for second choice, it wasn't too bad.

Granite City is the hub's and my go-to date place. Rarely a wait. Good location (we go across I-29 to the AMC). Food is consistently good. Love the spinach dip. The appetizer pizzas are big enough for a meal. Hub's favorite is the meatloaf; I love the Sriracha Orange Tilapia. the brunch buffet is (in my opinion) a little pricey at $16.95, but the quality and variety of what they offer makes up for it.

I just had the most wonderful service and meal. I will admit I come here often but never really commented on how good the service and food is. With all the choices in any area it's nice to know that your food and service will be right or the manager will make it right. Salmon was hot and seasoned well. The beer was cold and tasted fresh. And Dana, the server was wonderful with everything. I know people have said this being a chain is a downfall but I disagree. The have styandards that have to be met and not once have they ever let me down.

I REALLY enjoy THIS GCFB. The staff has a fairly cohesive approach to running the place. They don't bicker or quarrel (yes I have seen that at other restaurants), they just get the job done and really try hard to please their diners. (pretty savvy f you want to stay in business in this economy, right?) I always suggest sitting in the bar booths-I think the service int here tends to be better. They have an amazing bartending staff that watches over the waitstaff and patrons. Dana, Charlie, Emily and John are some of my favorites. It's kind of like Cheers. Charlie will introduce himself and make conversation. Dana is just bright and on the ball. Emily and John are also great personalities and act like it is their own business. I love their mantra. The variety of food is pretty good. I personally like the Chicken Brushetta Salad. It comes with yummy toasted bread that was slathered in a creamy Caesar dressing, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and toasted. (Of COURSE it isn't dietetic-I said YUMMY, RIGHT?) I suggest you go to their website and look over the menu to find if anything strikes your fancy before you go. I enjoy many things on it, but each diner must decide for him or herself!

"I've been living in the Lansing area for exactly 41 days, and I've been to one of the Granite City Brewery locations five (5) separate times. So I guess you could say I like the place. This review is for both the Legends location, as well as the Zona Rosa one. My fiance moved out here about 2 weeks before I came back from Iraq, and she found it and said it was good (she was there twice). Each time, I've gotten a different meal (Burger, chicken sandwich, flatbread pizza appetizer, something else, and then free appetizer shindig), and all were excellent. Jenn has not had a bad meal either. I think that all of the entrees, sandwiches, and appetizers look or sound good, and I don't think anyone would have any trouble finding something good to eat. We've only had dessert once, and it was a pretty sizeable chocolate cake that was decent. The beers they have are pretty good - at least the IPA (I love IPAs), pale, and the seasonal Scottish. We've never had to wait for a table, had attentive servers every time (at both the Legends), walked away enjoying the experience. One thing I really like is that a manager has come to our table to check on us as we were finishing our meal all bu tone time. It's a nice touch. Prices are a tad more than a "regular" chain like Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday's, but not so much more that I would not go. And it's worth it. They also have different specials (beer/appetizer/etc...) each nigh tof the week which seem pretty decent. Check out Granite City - you won't regret it. P.S. If you plan to go more than a few times (i.e. you like it and live near one), you should consider joining their Mug Club. Costs $20 to join (or go on Monday when it is only $10). When you join, your first 20 oz beer is on them, and meals are all 10% off. So you can see a few stops there and you've made your money back. But there's more - money you spend accrues you points in an account, and when you get enough, you get gift certificates. And they have special member only tastings and appetizer buffets (free appetizers) every once in a while, mostly when they release the new seasonal beer. We went to the one in December, and the Shepherd's Pie and Bangers & Mash appetizers were so good, they were our meal - we're hoping they add those to the regular menu!"

The staff seemed unprepared for dinner service on this Sunday night. I and my companion could tell their flow was off as soon as we stepped through the door. For our table of two, we had to wait for a table to be cleared for us, even though we could see from the lobby that many tables were empty. Milk was spilled in the lobby seating area, and their side banquet room looked like a complete mess with only half a dozen occupants. Our server was pleasant enough, gave us plenty of time to review the menu and make our choices - she even went out of her way to get us lemon wedges for our drinks. However the kitchen took a very long time to get our food out, and when it finally arrived my meal was barely lukewarm. It was tasty, but definitely not a warm meal. My companion's meal was hot, so I think the kitchen staff misjudged the amount of time needed to make both meals and have them ready at the same time. The waitress called for the manager, and he politely apologized and credited our bill for the cold entree. He also offered to have them warm up or remake my meal. I told the manager that I would eat it cold rather than have to wait even longer for a new entree. I have been here before and had a reasonably good experience, but tonight it seemed like nothing was going right behind the scenes. I doubt I will return.

  • Will J.

Close, but not worth a return visit; there are other brewery type options in KC that deliver the whole experience. First the pros: the pretzel appetizer and cheese dip is fabulous as is the warm bread, I thought the beer was OK, but since beer is such a personal thing, there's no sense in debating if it was good or not and the service was great. The cons were the entrees and the wait to get them. The burger seemed to have sat around for a relatively long period of time; it was dried to the point of being on par with a fast food patty. My companion's artichoke dip grilled chicken sandwich was greasy to the point of saturation. The filling was OK, but the bread nearly inedible and was left behind. To the Manager's credit she took the burger off the check. My overall opinion is that a facility as nice as GC, needs better food preparation. I was hoping for a great brew pub experience and only got 50% of it.

  • Psalm B.

The place wreaks of coroporate style chains. The beer is far from being "excellent" as a previous reviewer wrote. The food is 'ok', but nothing spectacular. The tvs are mounted way too high and your neck hurts from watching them from the bar. Don't really consider this a "brewpub" as they do 1/2 the brewing off location and pump it in via tanker trucks. The lifetime mugclub is the only reason this place gets any business from me at all.

I ate here with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and I have to say, my experience was a little mixed. We had one of their specials - an appetizer and two entrees for $20. Loved the value! The bruschetta appetizer they offered with this package was AMAZING! I've been craving it ever since, actually. Fresh and flavorful, and came out quickly. Our server was also very friendly, knowledgeable about beer and was happy to recommend a few pairings for us. The burgers were great, though a bit overcooked for my taste. (I requested medium rare and got what I would consider medium. No biggie, though.) So far, so good, but after we got our food, it seemed like our server forgot about us. We waited for about 15 minutes for him to pop back with a drink refill and/or the check. He was a great guy, but they weren't THAT busy. We eventually managed to flag down someone to bring us our check, and they apologized for the wait. All in all, I would say this was a good experience. The food was a step above standard bar fare and the service was good - to a point. I would gladly give them a second shot!!

My wife and I usually go to Granite City a couple times a month. We like the atmosphere, the service has always been great and the food is especially consistent in a very good way. Some of the entrees are priced a bit high, but the portions are quite large so the are not overly out of line in my opinion. They have great hamburgers, I like mine medium rare, and they get pretty close. I would highly recommend the Grilled Chicken and Bruschetta Salad it was really, really good. They run a happy hour from 4-6 with half priced flat bread pizzas which are outstanding. The Prosciutto Olive Flat bread Pizza and Pepper Bacon and Tomato are personal favorites. Their beer is cold and very tasty, I would recommend the two-pull. A combination of their Lager and Bock, um um good. Last thing if you enjoy GCF&B consider their mug club, I think its 20 bucks but half priced on Monday nights. You get huge beers at a great discount, very good for the bargain drinker who likes good beer. Last Last thing Sunday brunch is awesome, but be warned there is a good chance you will have to wait a bit, but totally worth it.

Granite City has always been a great restaurant for every meal. Their brunch is incredible, but make sure to ask for a cinnamon roll. I would recommend the bedda cheddar hamburger and their appetizers. Their boneless wings and flatbreads always hit the spot. If you are into craft beer, try a flight and then pick your favorite. On the healthy side the fish tacos are good. Kids meal pizzas are substantial so your little will definitely be full. It gets busy though during the dinner rush so I recommend call ahead.

Will. Never. Be. Back. Actually it's been several months since our last visit, I have just been repressing it but now I feel it's important to tell you what you'll potentially be walking into should you choose to visit. When we first started going, it wasn't bad. Nice bar, nice dining area. Warm simple decor. There were some good selections that were tasty, items we've had; chicken bruschetta salad, buffalo wrap, ravioli, flatbread pizza, and shoe string or waffle cut fries-all very good, and service was always good too. We joined the mug club and that gave us a discount every visit, and my husband enjoyed sampling all of their micro-brews. Each visit we always waited a little longer for our meal. This isn't an issue for me, when I'm out (not often) for dinner, I don't want to feel rushed and if the food takes a little longer it usually means it's being made fresh. Ok, let's get to our last visit June 5, 2011. Our server greets us, he is nice but seems distracted, overwhelmed. To my horror the ravioli is no longer on the menu, not a good sign because that's what I wanted and why I choose GC for dinner that night. Ok, deal and move on. So I get another item I like, the buffalo wrap and ask for the shoe string fries and a side of ranch and extra buffalo sauce. My husband orders a burger and the red potatoes and we order some carrots and ranch for our daughter for the wait. The wait begins. 30 minutes go by and finally our food arrives, everything but my dipping sauces. We flag down a different server, he brings them but spills them onto the table as he puts them down. Not a huge deal, he got it cleaned up and brought more, but still, another bad omen of things to come. So that was another 5 minutes before I touched my food. So I dug in. Guess what. Food is COLD. Not lukewarm from sitting the 5 minutes for the sauce spill...COLD. Our food came out after 30 minutes from ordering and my food is COLD???? Our server was no where to be seen and I was too hungry to wait for him and then wait for fresh food, so my husband graciously cut his burger in half (which was hot and fresh) and we shared his meal while mine, we'll I'd say, sat and got cold...just sat. While we ate the burger, I saw our server pass us about 4 or 5 times, never looking at our table. Finally he came to check on us. "Can I get you some boxes?" To which I reply. "Well no. Mine was cold when I got it, so can you please take it away?" To which he replied, "What would you like me to do about it?" It seemed snippy to me, but my husband played Devil's Advocate and said maybe his cooks have been screwing up all night and it just didn't come out right. Well whatever, it was still snippy. Our server took my plate away and that was the last we saw of him. The manager came out and apologized, gave us the bill (for the burger only, thank goodness.) and also gave us a certificate for a free app or free kids meal or something and tried to talk us into coming back so they could make it up to us. Nope. Case in point; I can deal with menu changes if the food is hot. I can deal with a wait if the food is hot. I can deal with a spill now and again IF. THE. FOOD. IS. HOT. Maybe it was an off night, but it wasn't pleasant, so just be advised.

Excellent! The food was reasonably priced and the service is wonderful. My wife and I have had a stroke of bad luck with servers recently from outright rude to forgetful. It truly was refreshing to have a server who although was double sat with a 14 top and a 2 top still paid attention to us and was very attentive to our every need. I had the broad Axe brew which was a wonderful nutty oatmeal stout with strong notes of a bold Colombian blend of coffee. My wife and I split the asparagus pasta. It was such a wonderful take on pasta, sun dried tomatoes, prosciutto, onions, and roasted red bell peppers. The portion was huge and we both still weren't able to finish half our portions. We were so full that we weren't able to have dessert. However, we took the chocolate cake home and it was delicious! We loved the special whiskey icing. This will be fun to take our friends and family to when they come and visit.

I always enjoy a night out a Granite City with my wife. Beer is always good and Mug Club members can attend special tappings of new brews. Food is tasty, wait staff is always friendly, nice atmosphere and always leave full.

Oh, Good Night! I have been to four Granite City locations including one in Lincoln, NE, I've got to say the food has always been consistent but they have a weird way of serving you. More than once we've been served with two or even three different wait staff who do not communicate to one another. Having said that if you have a group of more than four they bust their ass to serve you! I also like that you can eat their fairly late at night due to their pretty tasty late night happy hour deals/menu. They have lots of TV's which is good because no matter where you go, you will be there for a while. Stay away from the buffalo burger unless you love pre-pattied frozen buffalo but other than that the food is great and the microbrewery aspect works.

Go for the beers. Enjoy the friendly staff. The food is above average.

Compared to all the A la carte food locations in a Kansas City, this one is just your everyday plain jane. Nothing special but nothing bad either.
